Fantastic Mardi Himal Trek is found just east of 1 of the foremost legendary trekking destination of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Mardi Himal trek is an unseen gem yet. Few trekkers make their thanks to the Mardi Himal Base Camp outstandingly positioned at the bottom of Mardi Himal and therefore the Annapurna region´s most iconic mount Machapuchhre literally meaning “Fish tail”. The trail goes along small winding paths, through enchanted rhododendron forests until you climb out of the forest at an elevation around 3,300 meter. From High Camp (3700m; some maps incorrectly mention 3900 m) you’ll climb up to Mardi Himal Base Camp in about 3-4 hours, which offers spectacular pack up views of the whole Annapurna Range. There are simple guesthouses and homestays along the whole route. When to trek?
Mid Sept-October – November is Autumn Season: this is often Nepal´s peak and best time to travel trekking. March – May is that the runner-up season of year to travel trekking. December – January -February: the skies are clear but it can get very cold and there’s a risk of passes being closed thanks to snowstorm .
May – June: this is often Nepal´s hot pre-monsoon season and it can get very warm indeed. The valleys however are beginning to bloom with flowers though green leaves come up, still an honest time to trek.
June – Mid September: this is often Monsoon season and therefore the least popular time to travel trekking in Nepal. the danger of leeches, downpours increases greatly. thanks to the first forested areas leeches at this point of year in Mardi Himal are quite active! Wear long trekking trousers tucked in at this point of year. And leech/mosquito repellent spray is suggested to hold with.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Visit Nepal Travel Treks will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After settling in, you’ll have an initial meeting with your trekking guide to discuss the upcoming adventure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Drive to Pokhara (850m/6 hours):
Embark on a scenic seven-hour drive by tourist bus to the enchanting lakeside town of Pokhara. Once there, you’ll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to explore or relax by the tranquil Phewa Lake. Overnight stay at the hotel in Pokhara.
Day 3: Pokhara to Kande, Trek to Pitam Deurali (2100m):
A short drive from Pokhara takes you to Kande, the starting point of your trek. The trek to Pitam Deurali takes approximately 4-5 hours, offering picturesque views along the way. Overnight at Pitam Deurali.
Day 4: Pitam Deurali to Forest Camp (2550m):
Continue your trek from Pitam Deurali to Forest Camp, a journey of 4-5 hours through lush green forests and charming landscapes. Overnight at Forest Camp.
Day 5: Forest Camp to High Camp (4100m):
Ascend from Forest Camp to High Camp, a higher-altitude destination. The trek takes around 6 hours, rewarding you with stunning mountain views. Overnight at High Camp.
Day 6: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp:
Embark on the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp, an adventure that provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Return to High Camp for the night.
Day 7: Mardi Himal Base Camp to Landruk:
Descend from Mardi Himal Base Camp to Landruk, a charming village with cultural richness. The trek takes you through diverse landscapes and takes approximately a day.
Day 8: Landruk to Nayapul:
Continue your descent to Nayapul, a journey of 4-5 hours. From Nayapul, take a car or jeep to Pokhara, which is a 1.5-hour drive. In Pokhara, take the rest of the day for sightseeing and exploration.
Day 9: Nayapul to Pokhara:
Drive back to Pokhara from Nayapul, taking approximately 1.5 hours. Spend the day exploring Pokhara, including its beautiful lakes, caves, and viewpoints.
Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu:
Return to Kathmandu from Pokhara, either by tourist bus or a short flight, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way.
Day 11: Kathmandu:
Enjoy a free day in Kathmandu, giving you the flexibility to explore the city, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax at your own pace.
Day 12: Kathmandu Sightseeing:
Embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, visiting key cultural and historical sites. Explore the rich heritage of the city and immerse yourself in its vibrant atmosphere.
Day 13: Departure to the Destination:
Bid farewell to Nepal as you depart for your home country or next destination. A representative will assist you in transferring to the Tribhuvan International Airport.
